The first look at NewTek’s latest

Last week NewTek announced they would be demonstrating LightWave 7.5 in New York on Thursday April 25. With that announcement, users believed they would see a downloadable version sometime following. I get this question occasionally from pros who need to transfer files between their home and work machines when one or more resides behind a router. It's a quick process, but one that isn't immediately obvious for those who don't do much networking.

How to create unique Web animations using Illustrator 10 and LiveMotion 2

Designers who work in Adobe Illustrator software are well familiar with its print design capabilities and vector graphics handling. What Illustrator users may not realize is that the power to create fast, easy Web animations is right beneath their fingertips. From a simple blend of two Bezier lines to twisted distortions of logos, text and images, Illustrator 10 generates layered graphics that can be dragged as-is into LiveMotion 2 for animation.

Expression 2 is a program that tries to merge two very different approaches to digital art: raster painting and vector illustration. We've seen vector-based programs of late try to tack on some "artistic" features, and we've certainly seen paint and image editing programs integrate vectors into their toolsets. But Expression 2 is really the only cross-platform program on the market that truly combines the two.
2002 to see 34 percent gain

According to a report from research firm SCRI International, video equipment sales will climb 34 percent in 2002 compared with 2001. The market for video equipment declined by $2.4 billion in 2001 from 2000. While the expected gain this year won't bring sales back to their 2000 level, it does represent a comeback that reflects renewed optimism in the market.
