![]() Creating editable metallic effects on text in Photoshop by David Nagel At some point in your life, there will come a time when you need to create a metallic effect on text. I don't know why. It just happens. There are volumes of tutorials on creating this effect in Photoshop, but today we're going to look at a method that will, in addition to creating the metallic effect, leave your text editable and give you some pretty good results at the same time. On security scams and loopholes by David Nagel You may be aware that CDs encoded with Sony's key2audio copy protection scheme are designed not to work on computers and may even prevent you from ejecting the disc once it's inserted into your Mac. ![]() Apple's ultra-cool iPod is a great tool for professionals, too! by Paulo de Andrade Apple's iPod is a true object of desire. It's definitely a device I would expect to be carrying around this new millennium: very futuristic in design and features. But why am I writing about an MP3 player for this professional publication? Because the iPod, believe it or not, is a great tool that offers a lot more than MP3 playback. Upgrade now OS X native by Stephen Schleicher Anyone who has purchased a new Mac tower in the last year probably purchased one with the Mac Superdrive, an internal DVD burner. Also included with these new systems is Apple’s iDVD, a consumer based DVD authoring system. While iDVD is nice, and does generate a very nice DVD to play in most home systems, it just doesn’t give the user the versatility and freedom to create the DVD the professional user really wants. Apple’s DVD Studio Pro gives the content creator that power, but until the recent 1.5 release it only worked in Classic. Combining Usability Ideas with the Ultra-Cool Look and Feel of Flash by Adam Bell So now we have a new series of Flash Usability books, starting out with the long-awaited book Skip Intro (as well as Osborne's release, 'Flash is 99% Good.'). Written by two Flash usability experts whose names seem to come more from the Medieval era than today's Gen X or Y era, these two authors have started a 'renaissance' with this new release showing people not just how to create usable content in Flash 5 but also the new Flash MX. |
