Surprise: Windows, Irix, Linux users get a respite--for a price Well, the wondering is over, at least for now. Apple has officially announced its plans for Shake, including a version 2.5 release for Mac OS X scheduled for August. And, to everybody's surprise, Apple will also release version 2.5 for Windows, Irix and Linux, though these versions will cost twice as much as the Mac version. ![]() Latest release to include software real-time previews Adobe has officially announced Premiere 6.5, the latest generation of the company's non-linear editing suite. Version 6.5 adds scads of new features, including software real-time previews and new titling functionality. It also adds enhanced support for preparing content for DVDs and marks the first version that will run natively in Mac OS X.
First Mac version coming after summer Alias|Wavefront announced today that it will release a public beta of Mental Ray 1.5 for Maya 4.5 late this summer. Mental Ray for Maya is an integrated rendering plugin co-developed by Alias and Mental Images. Tucked away in today's announcement was the surprise news that version 1.5 will, in fact, be available for Mac OS X following the summer beta release for Linux, Irix and Windows. This is the first time Mental Ray with the Mental Ray GUI will ship for the Mac. A quick tip to enhance digital images Digital cameras are great, but sometimes they are just impossible to use to get a decent Depth of Field. In this quick tutorial, you’ll use Adobe Photoshop to tweak those digital images. FireWire mini-studio includes 32-track version of Pro Tools LE Digidesign says it plans to ships its new Digi 002 system sometime in the third quarter of this year.
