Filter effects and tools for Adobe After Effects
Expansive. That's the word that comes to mind when I think of Continuum Complete from Boris FX. Continuum Complete is a massive collection of effect filters and tools for Adobe After Effects. But the volume of filters--78 in all--is not the only thing that brings the word "expansive" to mind. There are also the controls and the wealth of functionality contained in this collection, which, amazingly, Boris has somehow managed to temper with ease of use.
Part 2: An approach to creating shallow bodies of water
Last time we took a look at water effects in Adobe Photoshop, we created a deep, murky body of water. This week we take a look at an approach to creating a shallow water effect, one in which the body of water--or brook, as the case may be--is clear and shallow enough for us to distinguish features below the surface.

Tewksbury Titan Rolls Out the Big Guns
A few months ago we took a close-up look at Avid Xpress DV 3.0 for the PC. The new version received a positive review from Digital Media Net, where I highly recommended the software and mentioned how nice it is to have your own personal Avid system. Now, Avid Xpress DV version 3.5 ($1699 standard, $2499 for Power Pack) takes that concept a step further, with more sophisticated color correction controls and an interface that's the closest thing to a Media Composer and Symphony we've seen this side of the $70,000 mark. Best of all, the update now works with both Mac OS X and Windows XP, and versions for each platform are included in the same box. Here's our review.
