Don't be afraid of the big bad smb.conf
In part 1 of this tutorial, Dave Nagel introduced you to the magical world of Jaguar's native Windows file sharing, for those of us who are forced to interact with one (or, heaven forbid, more than one) Windows machine(s) on a daily basis. For many, that's as much or more than you'll ever need in order to make your beloved Mac a good corporate citizen, but for those who demand a few more options than Uncle Steve decided to include by default, don't fret. With the help of some freeware, you can easily set a bunch of hidden settings to truly make your Mac just another faceless node in the vast machine of Windows boxen on your network. That is, if you're into that sort of thing.

An incremental improvement, but not perfect
Once again, Apple has raised the bar for its G4 line of workstations. Not only have its dual processors gotten a speed bump from 1GHz to 1.25GHz, but the system now supports faster DDR memory and comes pre-loaded with the newest version of OS X, called Jaguar (version 10.2). In this review, we take a look at this new machine, and then run some benchmarks using Adobe After Effects 5.5 and Photoshop 7, to see just how much faster this new box is compared to its predecessor, the dual 1GHz G4.
Part 1; Keyframing warps to create animations
Of the multitudinous--and, yes, that is a word--creative tools in Synthetik Studio Artist, one of the least documented is its Interactive Warp features. These include the ability to create spherical bulges, spirals, ripples and a number of other warp styles. And they can also be animated, a process we'll look at today.
