![]() Cloth, charcoal, chalk and rags For the last few days, I've been preparing a set of natural media brushes for Adobe Illustrator. Now, this is an activity I highly recommend for any of you out there who have committed crimes against humanity or other terrible sins and feel you need to atone through painstaking, frustrating labor. For you innocents out there, you can simply download the product of my own atonement, otherwise known as Nagel Series 1 Illustrator Brushes. ![]() Video encoding and interactive authoring suite for Macintosh I'm going to do things a little bit backwards with our review of Discreet's brand, spankin' new Cleaner 6. This is owing to the unusual offer that Discreet is making with the Cleaner 6/Combustion 2 bundle through the end of the year. So before I get into our review of Cleaner 6 itself, I'm going to save you a little bit of time and make my recommendation right now: This is a Must Buy bundle. No question about it.
![]() How to make common settings available in all new documents Those of you who use Adobe Illustrator every single day are no doubt aware of how to use this technique. But for those of you who use it less frequently--say for creating titles for video projects or occasional vector graphics--there is a way to create custom settings that apply to all new documents, saving you a lot of time and effort when you want to reuse styles, colors, gradients and the like without having to recreate them each time. The fast way to duplicate your DVDs I just finished a major video project and for the delivery requirements the client stated she needed 120 VHS tapes and 40 DVDs. The VHS tapes were not a problem; there is a dubbing facility next door. However, trying to find a place locally that could duplicate DVDs in a short turn around time (clients always need it tomorrow) is impossible. Fortunately I was armed with a couple of Macs and lots of blank DVDs. Parenting in After Effects When parents go to the store, a lot of them tether their child to their arm. As the parent moves around the child must move with the parent; wherever the parent goes, the child must follow. As is often the case, children who are tethered still want to run around. The child can spin, jump up and down, move freely in his or her own space, yet no matter how much the child wants to run down the next aisle, that motion is not transferred back to the parent. That behavior model also applies to After Effects. In this tutorial, we’ll look at how to parent objects in After Effects and how the Parent-Child relationship works. |
