![]() When is title safe, not title safe? I received a somewhat frantic email the other day from an editor who has discovered that the title safe boundaries in Final Cut Pro have a slight error; "I discovered that FCP's title and action safe areas are not correct. Instead of 5/10 percent borders all the way around, it calculates 5/10 percent on the width and provides a uniform border all the way around. Do you know any way to change the title and action safety dimensions in FCP?" While there isn’t a way to change the dimensions in Final Cut Pro, this Baker’s Dozen FCP Quick Tip should help clarify some issues, and give you some information to pass along to your graphics department. ![]() Working with color dynamics to preserve texture and add depth It's difficult to say which aspect of Photoshop's Paint Engine is the most important. Custom brush tip shapes, textures, shape dynamics: They're all important for creating custom brushes, especially for natural media emulation. But what do all of these matter if you lose the texture and shape of your brush when you're painting?
![]() Actions for producing lighting effects and manipulating color Our download this week is another set of actions for Adobe Photoshop 7. This collection focuses on a few aspects of light and color in Photoshop, including six adjustable image effects and one utilitarian action. Importing entire FCP sequences into After Effects never been easier In the last Final Cut Pro Quick Tip, I discussed how to import a single clip from the Final Cut Pro Timeline to After Effects for special effects work. The problem with that solution is it only brings in one track. If you have multiple layers, and need to make adjustments to all of them at the same time, you are going to run into issues. The solution? Get the duck... Automatic Duck that is. Exporting to After Effects Need to get a clip from your Final Cut Pro sequence into After Effects so you can perform some razzle-dazzle? Here’s how. |
