Painting
and rotoscoping software for the Mac
By Stephen Schleicher
If you're working in the motion graphics, video effects,
digital cinema or Web streaming fields, Commotion 3.1 from Pinnacle
Systems should be installed on your system. Designed by Scott Squires
(of Industrial Light & Magic fame), this standalone package combines
compositing, paint capabilities, matte creation and rotoscoping into
an application that is not only easy to use, but affordable as well.

Microsoft gave us of its future OS: Windows XP. A stunning accomplishment
in the field of technology, yes. But let us not overlook the innovations
in GUI design as well.

little while. I use Dreamweaver 3 and 4 to lay out two Web sites on a
daily basis—Creative Mac and Digital Media Designer. I also use Dreamweaver's
cache function to speed up the layout and management of my sites. But
as soon as I installed Dreamweaver 4, one of my site caches just wouldn't
work properly.
