up ScreamerNet II for the MacA guide to networking LightWave 6.5 On the grapevine, I have heard that there isn't a known tutorial about using ScreamerNet II on a Macintosh version of Lightwave 6.5. Having some experience with this, I thought it only right to create one, as it must be one of the most asked about questions on Lightwave discussion groups around the internet. For the purposes of clarity, this tutorial deals with a basic Macintosh network, consisting of a single 'Host' machine and three connected 'Node' machines. Review Future
Fantastic Genesis V2 ProSpecial lighting effects for Adobe Photoshop I first encountered Genesis V2 Pro just a few months ago when I was compiling a guide to commercial Photoshop filters. I had left it off the list because I had never heard of it. So a reader wrote in and said, "Man, you have to check this out," or something like that. So I did. True story. What I found was an incredibly powerful plugin for Adobe Photoshop whose sole purpose is to generate lighting effects and related special effects, such as glowing fogs and the like. Probably familiar to those of you who come from the 3D side of things (3D Studio Max or NewTek LightWave), Genesis V2 Pro is, nevertheless, relatively new in its form as a plugin for Adobe Photoshop and not even a year old as a Photoshop plugin for the Macintosh. (It was introduced for the Mac back in May 2000.) OPINION Guest Opinion: What's the Big Deal About Content Protection? The real cost of piracy by Guillaume Mazieres, Vice President of Marketing, LaCie Ltd. In talking to people at trade shows, user conferences and channel partner stores, there are a few common questions that are always raised: "When is writable/rewritable DVD going to be cheap enough for me to use at home?" "Is Hollywood raising all of the copyright stink just to make sure I can't copy heir movies?" "When will it be possible for me to copy movies?" "When are they going to finalize all of the DVD copyright issues?" Aurora Video Worldwide Users Group latest postings: This is why I purchased an Aurora Igniter! by Michael Alberts Thanks Darryl and the people at Aurora. I was having all kinds of problmes with my new Igniter Studio card and uncompressed material. As it turns out, the problem was with the new DP 533 coputer (vender is still diagnosing the computer). When I went back and installed all my cards in my old G4 450 all my problems went away. However, I found what appeared to be a bug either in FCP or the Igniter software. I alerted Darryl as to my problem on Wednesday morning. The symptem was: When rendering uncompressed material with YUV processing turned on (instead of RGB processing) all effects redered with crazy green and red squiggles on the image. By Thursday evening, Darryl and his team had diagnossed the problem and updated their driver. He email me the new driver that evening and all is right again. Now that's responsiveness.
